Hey there this is my first post. A Classic portiat that I came up with in order to develop my skills with Painter. Tell me what u all think of composition, colour, technical. I just bought my wacom and I got a redwood from using it, having been a traditional artist the constraints of my imac mouse I just couldn't do what I wanted to do.

Hey.
very nice.
What with all those defining lines (how do you say it english ? countours?)? If you're doing a color based realistic painting then drop the lines and use shapes and colors, if you want more illustrative feeling then work on the lines and do them with more style.
Also the coloring - it is a hybrid between flat illustrative colors and fuller realistic coloring and shading, decide which you want and go with it.
Also, this kind of painting is not called portrait - portrait is a frontal drawing of the face.
keep on the good work,
sea

The cup has a darn good oval shape for being drawn by hand on a Wacom. That's cool!
It looks like the pic is missing from the point where the bottom of the handle is. |

You're off to a good start. The important thing to remember is to paint, paint, paint! Sketch like crazy as well. (*Note: I know this fellow) As I said before you have the drive and the talent, but your skills, Young Jedi, need work. Your work is monotonous and flat and you need to work on your shading so your work begins to take more form. And yes, I agree it is important to remove the sketch lines. Do your coloring on a seperate layer as that may help as well. But your true career lies in art dude...keep it up!
