So, are you a Romantic who allows senses and empeirical knowledge guide you?

Or are you one of the Enlightened, steered by knowledge gained a priori and believe in the human's ability to think rationally?

I, for better or worse, think I am the former. I'm also going through a really deep psychoanalytical stage. Don't you hate those?

ooh deep

Depends on the situation. There's a time to be romantic like there's a time to be rational. You can't be all rational all the time though.. then life gets too serious. That's no fun. Enlightened is something slightly other than completely rational I think. It's kind of a mix of both. Most of the time I'm fairly rational (eheh, my unwilling use of formal language.. um yeah.. kind of.. illustrates this point )

Reason all the way. I can't even talk about emotions without wincing in embarrassment. I prefer thinking, considering.... It's not that I'm cold or distant (well, not all the time anyway)--just rational.

Yeah i said 'i hate everyone' once and got flamed for that : ( ... but its true!

Well, okay, i don't hate everybody, but does having only 6 friends and no girlfriend count... ??

Yeah i am an enlighten individual, i find rationalism the strongest trait any human can and should possess. Though it can become consuming to the point of total paranoia. Afterall, what happens if physicist discovered the TOE (Theory of Everything) We would probably go insane, but what if we knew we would go insane, then would we go insane, am i going insane, or wait, would or should i already know IF i'm going insane, ...wait!!!

Ya get the idea

In certain matters I'm very practical, but in certain matters, I'm very emotional.

I have the bad rep of being a hopeless romantic. Some of you probably know that due to my past postings. . .. *sigh* Guilty as charged. Just one quick stroll through my website will make the more enlightened souls gag and laugh their heads off. . ...

Oh well. I think life is more beautiful when you have a romantic view of everything. But that's just me.

People often see me as cold and analytical until they've known me for a while . . . I don't let emotions manifest haphazardly, instead opting to release them through art and music . . . I'd say that I'm governed by reason, but intrigued by romance.

Hah... One thing's certain - I am not a romantic.

I guess I'm rational. Or possibly cynic... I always think things through and I rarely open my mouth and speak without first considering my options thoroughly. Unless around my family, I'll become calculating and vengeful rather than emotional and aggressive if I end up quarrelling with someone. People tell me I'm diplomatic. Maybe I am.

I usually analyse and pick things apart to the smallest component - I like playing with the pieces of different kinds of puzzles.

Interesting post. My rational side usually represses a lot of emotional thoughts I have. But I'm getting over it because I'm making a conscious effort to balance myself. The manner which you were domesticated in childhood has a lot to do with how you act when you are older, sometimes I think there isn't enough of an emphasis on the importance of childhood.

P.S. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintinence by Robert Persig is a good book to read if your interested in this sort of thing...it covers a lot of this stuff, including the priori thing

(edit) oops

Just for kicks, here's a sample of the lyrics from Lateralis by Tool wich is fits in this post:

over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Our lateralized brains with the left and right sides serve two almost entirely different ways of thinking.

just something to gnaw on...

Even me, A.Buttle?

Rationality, all the way. Love is blind, whereas I see with the mind's eye.

A great contempt for most everyone... Sounds akin to what I'm feeling right now.

I just ended a 2 yr relationship with this guy. He kept blaming himself and trying to analyse what went wrong where as I couldn't even string a coherent reason as to why I was doing it. I mean, I feel why, *I* understand why but I couldn't convey it right.

*sigh*

Neither. Habit, Passion, Reflexes, and the such are old and ineffective. May be useful sometime, But not now.

Thinking is overrated...not sex. Just cause there some sort of cognitive process drolling trough your head giving what seems to be logical/rational mush is, well dumb. Methinks, and I know, there is not a thing such as "Logic". You may laugh, But can you REALLY say you understand anything? How do you know you understand? Did the chair stand up(Proverbially or otherwise) and proclaim you directly, "Hi, You can sit on me."?

Wait....what?! huh? umm.....Ok, Nevermind, I decided I've lost track. But it still sounded kewl. har. chewy beef!!!! NIPPLE CLAMPS FOR THE HOMLESS!!!!!! HUG HUG HUG!! WHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST PISSED ALL OVER MY OATMEAL! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Fuck. Fuck a lot. Then Fuck some more, and you will come up with the best idea of all...Fuck some more." - The Fuck, That stood up and proclaimed, "Do what I do, Kid."

Ooooh look, the post is longer now!

and longer!

and longer!

k. Ok. Okay. Bye now.

When i start thinking of alternative answers to a problem, i've already forgotten the answer.

I suppose there's some logic still. But i've always thought of that as a subconscious thing.

rational, with a tendency to get lazy and just go with intuition. That makes me feel bad about myself, though, since I usually want to be able to justify my actions at any given time. Whether I'll bother is another matter.

I believe Im a very reasonable person. But i do things outta sheer passion too. I just figured that Id start being passionate about the things that are reasonable.

"is that possible?" you say? It is absolutely. If you are a human being you have the ability to do most whatever you feel like.
