Hail.
You were quite bad at replying my last entries, but Im not one to hold a grudge. I need your help.
Im working on this here pic: http://www.neverland.nu/luder/genxii.jpg
and the first thing I need help with is tips in how to add good-looking wear and tear to all parts of the creature, both wounds and scars and rust and dents on the armour. Any other critique is ofcourse welcome aswell. |

That's coming along pretty nicely.
For metal wear&tear a good place to check out would be;
http://www.vigilante.net/~loki/
He does it very well.
For flesh stuff, my suggestion would be to find pics of REALLY HEAVILY rusted metal, and use the motifs you find on that as a source of inspiration. Rust is pretty cool when you look at it.
Row.

Wahoooo, really nice scary monster...
I'd just want to add something : the number "IIX" = "8" doesn't exist you know, you should type "VIII" instead ... OOh well, you can flip the picture horizontaly, you'll get a perferct "12" then...
Bye !

Hey, that's coming along nicely. You know, if you're looking for for a little rust there is a fantastic tutorial on 3dpalette.org in the Tutorial section. In fact, try this link:
http://www.3dpalette.org/features/rust/
I've tried it and it's pretty amazing if you work with it a while. And, since it's not a "one-button" solution your rust will always look different than anyone else who uses it! Good luck!

What about the background?
I aimed to keep it simple, dont want it to draw attention away from the main character... but is it too simple? |
