G' day all. Haven't been around the forums in a very long time--mostly caused by the fact one of my routers of my ISP could never contact dhab's server. Anyway, just thought I'd say hi to y'all, and a "hey again" to all those who know me from earlier (frost, binke, loki, dm, tinusch, etc.) I'm currently working on a piece of crap right now for my art class. The assignment: to take an inspiring artist's style and apply it to your own work. Thus, thought I'd try (like the thousands around the world) to apply the style of H.R. Giger. This is pretty much a mechanical heart...made for my girlfriend specifically (yes, I know id software already used the idea in Q3:TA intro). Faust: if you look closely, you may see a piece of one of your trademarks [penis]. Ah well, it's been fun making it, even if it does suck mule balls. Tools used: pencil, pilot razor, prismacolor markers, a big fat sharpie.

Fun.

Hmmm, nobody has replyed. Anyway, I think it looks good. I'm looking forwar to seeing it finished. It shows that it is drawn by hand, and that gives it a own style, that I like! |

Like I said, crap.
Anyway, yeah. The connection with Giger is actually more of a deeper level. Giger used symbolism throughout his work to represent feelings/emotions/actions. More blatant pictures were that of Li. Anyway, I didn't really attempt to use Giger's actual style of airbrushing or his biomechanoid look. Instead, I just wanted to approach it in a similar fashion. I took a symbol--love--and thought of a way to express it in a somewhat subtle manner. Thus the heart--if you can tell it is a heart No point in trying to copy something that is already mastered - just applied it partially.
Anyway, thanks for the comments. Faust: left side of the heart by the far vertical piece...the part that looks like the potter plant... ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |
