I've been reading up on Skin tones on Seeg's site and tried to put them to good work. For some reason, this Jpeg version makes the picture more greenish than the psd format which is a little warmer red, but no matter. Besides the really dull, blank expression, can you guys crit on the coloring or the proportions? I tried not to go for high contrast because I'm afraid to make it look to angular or something. Maybe even a repaint to show what might be better? Thanks a whole bunch!

The eye is good although lacking a little pink thinge. The mouth goes on for too long and the ear needs depth and contrast.

The iris is too sharp. It puts the rest of the face out of focus. You should also give it more texture. Skin looks good. The hair on the eyebrows look too painted. Use lots of drawn lines for the hair.

I think this is quite good, though I have a couple suggestions:

The eye: Needs some texture. Irises are full of little ridges of muscle, and are usually darker at the top and edges, though more gradually than the dark line you've used. The upper lid should also throw a shadow on the eyeball itself.

The nose: The left side of the nose is a little blurry. And at the top, the right eyebrow encroaches too far onto the bridge of the nose..makes it look slightly crooked.

The mouth: Actually, I don't think this is too wide, but this level of smile should raise the cheek muscle more, creating a darker smile line from the nose.

And is the ear a little too small...?

Anyway, it still looks good to me, and I think your colour work on the skin tones is excellent.

thanks for the comments guys, they really helped! Here's the redone pic. I made the eyes pink, shrunk the mouth a bit and colored in the ear a little more as Budoka suggested. You're right zenonithus, the iris did look too sharp. I toned it down and gave it some dimension using shadows. The eyebrow is also fixed, I put tiny hairs on it. I don't understand about giving the eye more texture though. What do you mean by that? Besides those fixes, I defined the nose a bit more. I thought it looked sort of flat before. (Just caught your post Eric. Oh ok, I get what texturing means now. Yea, hopefully the nose looks a bit more fixed. I did add some shadow to the white of the eye, but that was before I caught your post. Think I should add a bit more? THe dark lines outlining the white was supposed to be the eye lashes, ok they probably were colored with makeup making them that thick )Anyway, thanks again. You guys really helped!

Actually, it's not that the ear is too small, but it's too high. The top of the ear should be about level with the eyebrow, and the bottom about level with the mouth. Other than that, it looks great (although giving her a right eye would definitely help).

A bit about the eye... Well, first off, your second version looks a lot better. But one little thing that throws it off is that on the bottom half of the iris, the lighter part should be on the left, opposite your highlight. Look at your own eye in a mirror at some point and you'll see this.

Actually, I didn't explain that very well. Look at Fred Flick Stone's eye study pictures. They'll help.

not bad, hte chin shouldnt be so broad though, its a very masculine feature, the thinner and more rounded the more feminine it looks
