After a couple of weeks, I sat down and started working on the 3d head that I started on awhile ago. It's gotten a little bit farther and I would like to know what you all think so far. Assuming that there aren't any major major flaws, all I have left to do is paint another color map with moles, pock marks, and other blemishes, paint the bump map and paint the specularity map. Then I'll call it done and hopefully I'll have something cool to show for it.

it's generally nice. it passes as a face but there are some very odd things about it. no top lip, deformed jaw, deformed around the eyes, and the deep crease that starts at the eyes and sweeps all the way down under his chin is just freaky ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

Hey thanks for the comments guys. daz199, I used Lightwave 6.5. Icannon, alot of people have mentioned the crease in the face but no had mentioned the top lip thing. (I didn't even realize it every time I looked at it.) I made that crease less intense and turned the top lip so it was more visible. I'm not sure what is really deformed about the jaw though. I wanted to make it kind of pointed, that's why I have it so narrow near the chin and why I made it curve downward as went from the front to the back. Anyhow, thanks for the replies here's a very slight update with only a few changes but I think it looks a lot better.

Here is my final update on this topic since no one really seems to be looking at it anyway. I think it turned out pretty well. Anyone?

lip messed up yes and jaw and the line crease from the eye to lips is funky. WHat I wanted to say though is good job so far. heads are one of the hardest things to model and get right. As for your expresion sheet. Add more expresions.. not more as in poses.. but more to the pose. eyebrows are the same in each one... if you think your over exaggerating its normally just fine and looks better.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all of the positive feedback. I really think that this model marks some sort of evolution in my work. The 3d stuff I'm doing now is actually starting to look *somewhat* professional. Almost like I might actually be learning something. I learned how far simple colored lights can go with this model. If I use only a white light, the model looks like it has jaundice (sp?), if I use a red light with the white light, then it looks like the gladiator scenes in Gladiator. If I use a blue light with the white light then it looks like the emperor scenes in Gladiator. If I use all three, then it kind of looks like skin tones and has alot more depth. I also learned that putting the ambient lighting into a negative amount can really help if you're looking for dramatic shadows. Anyhow, I guess we'll see if this new found knowledge can help me make a nice model for my next project. Again, thanks for the comments. |
