It started out as just a pencil concept, but I couldn't resist coloring it. It probably would have looked better as the loose sketch, with some sepia watercolour tones splashed on, but I could do with the painting practice.

I've still got a bit of work to go, mostly blending and detailing. I'll probably give it a simple background, just to kill the stark white.

Does anyone have any observations or suggestions, before I get too bogged down in the details?

Nice work there buddy! The only I think you should change is the front of the helmet and his shoes.

Hope this helps

Hey RD, I think he is looking pretty cool so far

I made a few alterations to what might of looked a little odd
with his pose and structure. Probably not worth the post
but you never know, it might help anyway.

made the left arm a little more out, legs a bit bigger and head
higher because he seemed abit squashed. Also a bit more perspective
on the foot coming forward.

told u it wasn't worth it!

Thanks Cos, ... what do you mean 'not worth the post?' - that's exactly the sort of feedback I was after.

It holds together a lot better in your version. I always get to the end of a picture and find it ruined by poor construction from early on down the line. I get too focused on lighting and shadows, style and solidity.

His arm looks so much better in that position it's amazing. A lot more natural.

I now see one of my mistakes was making the shoulder pads too high which crowded his head and overstated the torso, which relatively dwarfed the legs. You've found a great way of visually fixing this. Thankyou.

The perspective on the front foot helps a lot too. I was trying to stay away from perspective too much as it was intended as a concept drawing - where the costume design is more important than a dynamic pose. You've shown that a bit of subtle perspective can help the solidity though. I might also try a subtle enlarging of his weapon , as it comes forward.

I'm planning to work the armour on his feet into heavy-duty steel boots, but I'm not sure what to do with the helmet. It's obviously not working, but I'm not quite sure what would help it.

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
