I would appreciate any help you could give me on this. It's one of those pictures that I've been working on off and on for a month now and I'm at the point were I need some outside advise. Please? I'm having the most trouble with the helmet thingy, I not at all sure how the lighting should go on it. Likewise, I need some help/opinions on the general lighting, and anything else you see that needs fixing. Oh, and just so you know, this is 'fanart' of Starky from Chrono Cross =)

If you need to fix your art
I can smudge around that part
If you need to dodge then dodge and burn
You're not alone |

Wow! Nice style. You took a very simple character and drew it as if it was a real 3 dimensional figure. It almost looks like he is made out of clay. I like the background too.

I'm not necessarily the most qualified to give suggestions, particularly because this piece is well beyond my own digital capabilities... but:
I'm under the general impression that you can usually find a hard reflection or two on glass. Adding a simple, curved, near-flat colored red or blue reflection area on the glass might help give it the "3D" look I think you're looking for.
Overall, though, this work is pretty cool as-is.
Cheers,

(If I'm not making any sense, I can do a draw-over later on today to show what I mean) |

Jezebel: Yes he is =)
LeChuck: Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
shaithis: Thank you for your help. I understand what you getting at, it just might help to make the helmet more 3d. ^_^
Would anyone else like to make a suggestion. I would really appreciate a couple more opinions on lighting/helmet stuff... |

Wow, these are some helpful links. Thanks, Waldo. If I have some time tomorrow I'll see what tips I can use from these in my picture. |

That's a cute fellow ! :)
The helmet looks thin and soap bubble like, veryfragile but imho it goes well with the etheral look of the pict, very silky.. *likeslikes!*

Funny how you're unsure how to light the spherical helmet, but you already lit the eyes just fine :)
they have the same form, just put the reflection of the light source just like you did in the eyes, and the diffuse coming from the ground.
The sunset in the bground would make another highlight on the helmet, but partially hidden behind the creatures head. Now there are lots and lots of other things that would bounce and reflect and what not from the glass, but these should help with the form.
The body looks nice, but a little soft. A little more definition would be nice since the spacesuit is a little boring. The red on the stuff would probably reflect some color to the silvery cloth and on the creatures chin, casting a reflection on the helmet.
Another thing, put a shadow of the guy behind him. The light is strong, shadow should be sharp.
