Hi all,

I was going to enter this message board with a finished picturre, but as it stands I am having trouble with this one. The brilliant outlines for this picture were done by Andy Hepworth and I'm having a go at colouring it. I'm by no means finished/satisfied with the rest of the picture yet but my greatest problem lies with the skin tones at the moment - I just can't seem to get the shading right. So here's the picture with just a flat colour for the skin. Any help would be most appreciated.

Well, to be honest, my main problem lies with placing the shades on the face and hands. I sort of have the right shades I think (I actually come from a comic illustration background - I will post some related pictures soon), bur I can't quite place them correctly on a face.

I promise I will improve drastically, honest.

hey that looks really good looks kinda nice with just flat colours. so what exactly are your having troble with in choosing your skin tones? just cant find the right ones? personaly i use medium and dark reds and red-oranges for darker skin tones, but more on the less saturated so there a little more faded.. hmm hard to explain. just keep messing around with it and see what works best. good luck
