Has anybody else ever taken the pen tool in Illustrator and just gone nuts with it? It's so good for making clean lines and shapes, it's kinda fun to ignore that ability and just sketch with it. Here's a couple of quickies, about 30 min each:

II used to work in Illustrator and draw my own stuff for fun on my lunch break. You should try working in color some time. You can do some realy cool stuff if you learn the program well.

These days I stick to Photoshop mostly.

yeah, i've been using illustrator for a while now for design work, but what i was trying to do here was draw with it, quick and dirty, ignoring overlapping splines and the precision of the shapes and such. I just thought it resulted in a nice effect.

I was also thinking of playing around with the fact that illustrator 9 layers now support transparency, maybe go for some interesting paint effects insead of the cheesy gradient mesh look.
