Hey how does this guys face look?
This is a friend of mine and I tried to draw his face in a comic-book type style. I obviously left a lot of room...probably too much for coloring. Anyway I have been trying to get the coloring to look good for his hair but I just can't get it right and its really pissing me off. I work with a mouse and photoshop right now. Anyone got any tips for coloring his hair or if I should re-do the hair?
Oh also the glasses are going to have a reflection from a computer screen so you won't be able to see the eye, thats why there are no eyes if you were wondering.

I think the line around the entire face needs some more definition.
Right now, the line has variable thickness in some areas, like the back of the neck, under the protruding cheekbone and along the top of the hair.
There are a few options in inking your work to make it look "really" good. You can do a thinner line on the inner details of the face and do a slightly thicker outline all around the face or where a sharp edge overlaps a surface below or behind it.
You can also use variable line thickness as a style, but you have to follow rules... like all dark areas have a thick line and all lighted areas have the thin line. You can follow other rules too, just as long as the line is consistently thick.
As for coloring the hair, check out Enyala's hair coloring thread (search for it by her name) if you want a realistic/fanatasy approach or look up some comic-book images on the web to find some one-color-shading approaches to coloring the hair.

Also, are there any skin details you can fill in for some of the areas - freckles, moles, scars? The top of the chin may need a line if his chin sticks out. |
