Another design for my comic, this time a larger warship. It's a bit flat, limited to a single plane... suggestions welcome.

Actually...THAT looks more like a scout ship. Its sence of scale is much smaller, and it has two long "things" that can contain highly advanced probing equipment.
but a VERY nice design, although if it belongs to the same "race" as your previous ship...they dont look alike..as if they are from two difrent sources.

Nice design. I think the scale is OK... just check the little windows on the front of the ship, and the turrets on top of it. |

Great work! I love the design!
Some suggestions:
Maybe you should bend the engines down a bit to give it a bigger/more massive look, like this:
Most capital ships look capital because they're not that flat and streamlined (they don't have to be). This makes it look bigger somehow IMHO. Also it is aeronautically more correct (yup - did my homework for a recent project I don't remember the name of the book I read about this stuff but it ROCKS - I'll look it up later on if you want to know about it, ok?)
If you want it to look really really giant, add some slight DOF to the final drawing, but guess I don't have to tell about that
I don't think the long "things" must be home to sensor-arrays or something - they would be perfect to home bays for dropships on the inside
Anyway - I LOVE it Are you planning to use it "only" for your comic or are you going to do it in 3dee too?

AKIRA_x: Actually, this one's supposed to be quite larger than the scout, but they are from different races. I'm glad you think they look different; I was worried that they are too simialr. The scout is a Terran vessel, and this one from a race with more advanced, waspish designs. The two long prongs are housings for massive linear accelerators.
nox|silicon: Thanks, lowering the engines is a good idea; I'll try it out. I am already modeling it in Lightwave... the idea is to use 3DCG for many of the backgrounds in the comic.

GREAT! Love it!
Oh and I won't show my coloured version of the other ship... it became too bad and I don't want to disconsecrate your nice pictures

sounds great! looking forward to that
btw: I would prefer Maya for the 3Dee... a matter of taste tho.
If you need help with the 3D stuff just let me know, ok? ( [email protected] ) I'd be glad to help! I'm currently working on a BIIIIIIIG futuristic city for a film, will post some shots after the film is released (I'm not allowed to before )...
hear from you

I like it! The only thing that could stand a change in my opinion would be the thinness of the connecotr between the main part of the ship and that observation(?) part it connects too. |

Those two long things look like they might clamp together and protect the main deck during a battle, or maybe they produce some sorta worp field for ftl travel. |

When is the comic coming out? Looking forward to it. Are you traveling around to any of the comic book cons?

I think its a cool design, I do spaceships my self and I would say this design has a big ship feel to it, they way its shaped tells more about the race than what kind of ship it is.
