This was inspired by Bizarde's excellent 4 hour robot posted in the Finished Work section. I was so amazed by the curves and shapes of Bizarde's work that I attempted to bite off more than I could chew on this one here.
You can see influences from Bizarde's Rob1 as well as Starcraft's Protoss four -legged walker unit.
I think next time I'll go easy on the curved surfaces and the open spaces for my next bot.
Drawing the profile was a lot easier... :P\
Oh yeah, please tell me what you think. I know I have like 4 different qualities of drawing going on here... I did the "top", the the "base", back legs and front legs in that order... so I got tired of it at the front legs -- no need to point out mistakes there
I'm not going to work on this one anymore, but I'll definitly use any advice for future drawin's.

Hmm the top bot looks like it works and looks good but the line weight around the outside of the object looks wack...and so does the background color....hmm if I where you I would ink the pic with a white background and then usea grey scale marker to shade the details...it will look cool! |

Personally, I really like the outline on the top pic. It gives it alot of style. The design of the mech is very nice. Good job!

I REALLY like those (see I used all caps so you know I'm serious).
I just want to see much larger images, so I can see all those details you put into 'em.
Post the big pics.

Very nice work here Sergenth. I don't think that the drawing needs the black outline, so I would have removed it.
The details are incredible. Love to see it rendered out, but it looks like you won't touch it again. That's a shame... |

Freakingly beautiful man! That could almost be a 3D render! Impressive work and very good design. Someone should try to color it now... |

Pretty cool design and easier to understand than Bizarde's (concerning the "head"). Agree about the ugly BG-color, though. Shade it! And give a link to a bigger version...
Nice work! |

Sure, go ahead and give it a try, Andy'ba! But here's a warning... both images, the 3d and the profile have non-matching proportions and shapes :P
I apologize for any headache it gives you.
Feel free to improvise on the front legs as well... I knew I should have made them more like the back legs! |

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
Milkman: Yeah, the posted image would have looked better if I redid the detail lines as well as adding the thick black line. (which btw, is a popular method for showing off edges - thin lines show where surfaces meet flush or in corners)
Rattmouth: If I showed a bigger image, you'd just see more pencil lead texture :P
Kjetil, Hightop, everyone else: Okay okay, I'll draw a nicer one, make it big and preetee enough for wall paperage.
el_monkey: I zoomed in at 300% and drew the line with my mouse using the airbrush :P I think I'll ink the drawing in real-space next time instead of in cyber-space!
Jaymo: Hey, that's the color of my bathroom...erm.. minus some blue in it.. heh.
Also, for you mecha-fans out there... here is a link to an awesome Lego Spider-bot I found on http://www.lugnet.com

This spider-bot makes me want to buy $400 of legos! |

Wow, Sarge, that's really awesome. I see in your drawing tones of details, and a huge love for design.
You promise a lot, btw i'm corious about your age.
But is somethin' what i dont like on it, and that is the shape of the legs, i think you should play more with the volumes. Try somethin' like: go from thick to thin and back.
Love your stuff, you should work more ...
