This is a cover I did for a very small magazine for a local highschool that my younger brother goes to. The magazine has articles, stories, poems, and art from the students of the highschool. I was asked to make a few covers, since no one else wanted to.. kinda bothered me since I no longer attend that highschool, but it was more a favor to my brother than anything else. Anywho, the print is cheap as hell, so they dont like anything but pure black. No shades, no nothing.. just b/w. So crosshatching worked okay I think. Anyways, I dont think this is a faboulous piece of art.. there's many things I dont like about it, but I thought you all could give me some guidance on what could be done better about this piece.
Oh yeah, it was suppose to be centered on a love theme.. it is, but most people dont get it. I do, only because its personal.
Any thoughts would be nice.

I like this!
good work. It is hard to design stuff without shading, in B&W. I think the composition is good. The 'break out' of the character's leg is effective in linking the title with the image. It creates a flow between them and gets rid of the geometry of the border. Very effective for such a small detail. I like the characters generally except the clothing. It is a little hard to define/see, if you know what I mean. Really like the clouds/bubble effect at the top. It works great, dont change it at all. good work!

Hey, thanks Collosimo. I agree with the clothing not being very defined and such. I kind of wanted them to be wearing those pajama's a lot of kids use to wear, that had the places you could put your feet in. Hard to describe. I should of done some actual research on that I guess. Live and learn!

I like this pic alot, it has a really light and playful atmosphere!
There's something about the girl on the moon that doesn't seem quite right. I thinks it's the proportions on the arms.
Anyway, that's a really nice pic! |
