Hi all,

just an update on where I am with the Bats/Supes page. This is my first try at this style of coloring and I have to say I am SLOW at it.

Chapel, how DO you do it so fast?

For starters I fill in all the colors first. Once you have the "flats" down then determine where your lightsources are going to hit. Then render. Work big too small. Also, you should do the backgrounds first, so you still can get motivated when you do the characters.

Chapel,

thanks for the advice. I know what you mean about the motivation thing. I saw your Bats/Supes work and was blown away by it. I first thought you'd posted professionally-colored work for the rest of us to learn from before I realised you're trying to break into the industry yourself. Still, not to sound like I'm sucking up, but I really am inspired by your work.

I'll try your advice the next time I color something. Thanks for lookin'!

mattready - thanks for the kind words. I've been busy with work-related stuff so haven't had much time to work on it. But the work's out of the way now and I'll try and finish it off soon.

Yeah, I thought the orange and green highlights would be nice, but as I'm sure Chapel has expected, I've run into the folowing problems:

1) by doing the highlights on Bats first, I now have to maintain consistency and do them on Supes as well as the background. Not sure how I'm going to tackle that yet.

2) having done the main characters first, it's kinda boring to be doing the buildings in the background. Also, coloring around the two characters while maintaining consistent color and lighting is going to be tricky.

I'm gonna give it my best shot, though and see what I can come up with. This IS my first try at this and I'm learning a lot, which I suppose what it's all about at this point.

Thanks again for the support.
