This is a color version (in progress) of that line drawing I posted before the break. Looking for the usual abuse, so if you have comments or suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I like this pic Francis. I still might want to color it some day if you don't mind. Didn't you say you were inking this? Is this the linework look you were going for? Still looks penciled. |

Francis, I agree with chapel unfortuantly. I don't see how this could possibly be inked? I never seen such light inking...?? I guess the color washed out the black. I am not sure if you should approach a pic like this in a painterly fashion. I mean this is very comic book looking so you would need to put some strong ink down and then color under the line art..something like you would see from liqued..anyways that just my opnion..Awspme line work though...great detail! |

hehe.. Francis you are a tracer like me! You should try an ink style like Adam Hughes. You know.. nothing fancy just bold outlines to make things popout here and there. I mean this is fine for the way you paint things, but some different line weights in there would look cool. |

Francis;
Great design as usual. Just had one comment about you coloring; I notice a lot of your coloring is based on 'color mixed with white'. That is, the highlights of colored objects tend to go towards white (or grey), rather than variations in the color itself. I think it'd be nice to try under-coating some objects which a color other than white and then applying the shading over the top, for example.
Just an observation.
Row.

In general the less pigment a light has, and the less strong the light is(ie; fewer photons hitting surface), the less the color of a surface will take on the light's color. Which is why Sumaleth is right. But no color in the pic is definate-it's all concept sketch colors. The opposite of this would be comics, where everything is too base in color. I'm sure you know this though. Great detail in the sketch.

My only critique is that the woman in the foreground looks like a mannequin. Perhaps she needs more pronounced pupils? I don't know.
Or maybe she is actually an android, and that is exactly what Francis intended?! I'm on to you, guy. The secret's out.
All in all, a great pic. As expected.
Keep it up.
Matt

Looks like your inking by hand on computer. Try using the pen tool... although it does take some time.. very nice results.
(and if you already did..... disregard this post) |

Looking nice Francis! I'd give some crit, but, I've been dealing with the idea/fact that I suck and that I shouldn't give false evaluation and comments on how to improve things. =) |

Very nice!
I liked the color, the fact that there's multiple light sources and the lighting still looks right and I like the light inking too. Gives it the look of an animated feature. Nice going! |

Cool pic, lines and objects remind me a lot of Shirows mangas. Nice idea with the brands (noone drinkin jaymo-soda? pity). I have to agree the girl in front looks pretty artificial/lifeless. It's her wide eyes in combination with her emotionless expression. Intentional? |

I love it Francis! Great stuff, with a kind of Darrowesque feeling to it. I love all the little references scattered around. Really funny and cool.
The only thing I would say about your coloring is that, for me, it lacks a little in intensity (contrast I guess), and some of your strokes could be smoother in some areas (while keeping a rougher look for the walls for example). About your main girl I think she just lack a little depth in the eyes, sharper shadows and highlights to make her looks more alive.
But as I said great job and probably a lot of work on this one. And your inking is quite stylish and original (Can I feel some influence from a Lllama guy? )
I love it! |

Hey Marker King. I love the lighting. But the girl in forground looks like a robot/barbie. Maybe it's the eyes, maybe it's the pose....maybe both.
Or maybe she is supposed to be a robot...if so maybe a seam on the skin is in order.
As always you humble me.
