I've been working on this on and off for a couple of days, but i'm not to sure what to do with her head. i was thinking on giving her some kind of hair or a fitted cap. i'm not sure what they call those. Any other comments would be appreciated as well, and color suggestions if you have any. thanks!

Hey,
Just a quick suggestion:
No big poofy hair. Probably having her hair tied back 'cause a zero gravity in theory all the hair we be all over the place.. Maybe a crew cut? Something like that..

It looks good so far. I think she would look good with a helmet cap (I don't know what they are called either). It would stick to the space astronaut theme.
The left eyebrow is thinner and smaller than the right, and some extra work with the eyes wouldn't hurt. It's also looking like her right ear is slighly higher than her left. Looking forward to the finished piece.

yeah, very nice so far. The hand is a bit too small though and the neck may be a tiny too long. I'd either have the hair tied back or short and messy-ish (if you know what I mean)
That'll be a corker when it's done |

Well, sounds like her hair will be short then.. i'll work on getting the proportions correct also, thank you all very much for the help!!
I don't know if any of the technical stuff is working, i'm just kinda making that up as i go, i might add something else to the helmet or some space accessories like a back pack or something. we'll see..
thanks again! |

Gotta disagree with sporQ there. Some people in real life actually have big ears. =) If I remember the -one- real figure drawing class I took, ears are roughly the same length as the distance between the eyes and bottom of the nose. And her nose is pretty long, yes? Also, her ears could look high up on her head if her head was pointing slightly downward. Then again, if that was true, her eyes would have to be looking slightly up... nevermind.
I love what you've done with the helmet, though. She's pretty, too. My suggestion for the hair would be something dark, short, spiky, and somewhat messy. But that's just me. =)

you're right about the distance being from the eyes to the bottom of the nose. but, they are from the eyes to the mouth in distance. also, when you said that they are usually about the length of the nose, that made me look again, and i think the nose could be a bit long.
but, you are right, peole are all different. i didnt mean to make my suggestion sound like it was law and must be followed, just trying to help with some general anatomy.
another note, if you want a more stylistic look, but still retain realism. females generally have more demure features, so if i was drawing it, i would make the ears even smaller than normal, as well as rounding out the nose and lips, and maybe bigger eyes. but that's just me.

i like the crew cut idea. something very short would suit her...but then she looks good bald too! just keep it short! |

I guess it depends on what your looking to acheive here, if you want a pretty thing then 'poof' it up, but if you want the realistic thing then the constraints of hair-care in space rule. (hmm anyone got any know if they make 'space-man' shampoo)
OK enuf of my BS,
I keep getting this Sinead O'Conner image, and in all honesty - she was pretty sexy for a 'practically' bald woman. (sorta like tennis ball fuzz length that showed off the contours of her head) |

great job so far as always david .. i was thinking short hair as soon as i saw it, and that seems to be the common thought here too.
