nice texture on the rocks.
the wings are out of perspective. since the farther wing is higher, it looks like you have a bird's eye view of them. but you should have more of a worm's eye view. move the back wing further down and it will look better.

I'm not sure that I like the halo? what about having some sort of neon sign below him to illuminate from below.
the white highlights on him are inconsistent with the sky and buildings, it looks like the moon is full (judging by the angel) but the sky and buildings are too dark. Personally i'd darken the angel down a whole lot and rely on the uplighting.
hope this helps some. :

Hi. I did a paint-over.
I think El Tigre had a good point about the wings - they should be left dark, since if there was bright moonlight shining on them, the building behind would get bright moonlight as well, and that would mess up your value composition.
But as far as what I did, first of all, I made everything around the dude a lot darker. I felt this made him stand out a lot better, and the light from the halo seems a lot more important (even though I toned that down as well.) As far as the hues, I warmed the foreground up a lot, and the background a little. I also gave the guy's skin a bit of a maroonish/purplish tint.
I don't particularly like the orange I picked - it could probably stand to be a bit farther back towards yellow. But I was really hyped about warming up the colors, I took it too far.
Anyway, I hope this helps. Keep warm and cool colors in mind and you should be ok. |
