I wouldn't color it, black and white is more powerful than color in this picture.

you should try the work in huge rez then resize down -method of detailing

it's much easier to draw the detail when you don't have to be overtly careful. just do it. enter the "fuck it it'll be fine after i resize it down.." mentality.

work in 4x the size you intend to have it in the end.

i'll use that one quick doodle of mine as an example. it might not be a good example or a good drawing or any of that, but it gets the point through. hopefully. nevermind the picture sizes. :P

To be honest, you need to make it clearer what is going on in the painting. What i think is happening is ome guy is looking at a coke can and a whole bunch of peopel are running down the stairs to steal the coke can because they're in WWII and thirsty as hell. Anyway, I'm a little confused on where your light source is... it seems to be coming from the middle of the two soliders....but arghh.... im not sure about the light soure anymore. I'll just leave it off at that and go eat some skittles.
