Cut and paste from some random site ...
"Web Hosts
You have designed and constructed your pages on your own desktop computer. You are understandably proud of your work and want others to see it too. In order to show off your work, you will need to take the files from your computer and transfer them to a computer that is a server or web host.
Since you are reading this page on your screen, you already have Internet access of some sort. To find a server, the first place to start is with your current Internet Service Provider (ISP). Contact them to find out if web hosting is available to you. Your ISP may already offer a web hosting account as part of your monthly package.
If your ISP does not offer web hosting, you will need to find someone who does. There are many web hosting companies available and most offer a variety of plans. There are also companies who offer free space for personal home pages, such as http://www.geocities.com/, http://angelfire.lycos.com/, http://www.tripod.lycos.com/, http://www.virtualave.net/index.gsp, and http://www.homestead.com/. Sites such as CNET also have resources for finding hosting companies.
Many don't allow external linking of images, and some can be fooled by renaming your xxx.jpg file to xxx.txt. Text files seem to be forgotten by the guys who pulled the plug on external links ...
More help and tips can easily be found by using any web search engine ...
Good luck ... |
