Ok Ok, I am in no way trying to say anything about artists in general with this topic in anyway, I am just having some serious difficulty in trying to release my screenplay to concept artists to begin the prelim work on the designs for the movie.
I myself am an artist and I respect other peoples work to a very high degree but I have been taught to trust no one with my work (long story)
It's just that when you know you have something, something that could really be the next big thing you become very protective of it. I was thinking of getting some non disclosure agreements made up by a lawyer that will bind the artists I choose to silence on the project but I am worried this will make me look like some evil controling tyrant.
Second, I have had some serious offers made by really talented people to do the work for me but they are not who I want and I don't know how to approach the individuals I do want on this project.
Any suggestions would be great. |

I've signed a number of NDAs throughout my career and have never thought bad of them or the people asking me to do the signing. In fact I always thought better of them as they seemed to have their shit together... |

As much as I understand your point, I thought about something along these lines a very long time ago. I came to the following conclusion.
You tell a story when you write the screen play.
The artist tells his version of the story when he does the art for it.
The director tells his version of the story when he directs it
The actors tell their version when they act
and so on and so on.
I'm not saying give up control, but I am saying let them have some control. You've got a lot in your head about what this means and what that means. They don't yet. They haven't read your story, they haven't told it themselves. Maybe they will latch on to something you felt was minor. Maybe they will reemphasize a major theme. Let them have their fun with it. Just stay along for the ride and make sure you agree. You have a vision of what the movie should be, but let that vision be able to grow.
You are going with these artists because you trust their work and their abilities right? So why not let them do what you are commissioning them to do and see how it comes out.
(BTW, Don't listen to what I'm saying, I know nothing)
Rereading, i don't think this convered your questions at all, But a NDA seems reasonable to me.
