I'm teaching myself After Effects 5.5 and I have no idea what I'm doing I know PS, Premier inside out and Flash a very good working knowledge and I'm assuming AE should'nt be that much harder to learn. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good book to buy for beginners and if you know of any good tutorials on the net that I can get access to. Thanks! |

Creative cow has a few tutorials. I know there are several more if you do a quick google search for "after effects tutorial." The best books, in my mind, would be fron Chris and Trish Meyer; "Creating Motion Graphics," and "After Effects in Production."
Also highly recommended, if you can afford to go that route, are the tapes from Total Training. |

I have found Ultrashock to be a useful site, it has a few little after effects tutorials, but the best thing is the 'other' links to major after effects websites... they are really useful. Goto the tutorials section, then find the after effects section and some tute's and the links are in the lower part of the page.
I am just beginning to learn 5.5 aswell, but I have only got as far as loading the program up then shitting myself when I don't understand what to do next.
I'm sure you know the feeling. |
