Dr. Bang already delivered the answer if you can see through the sarcasm.
Forget lcds for remotely accurate colors. |

Also you will get different image color quality from windows machine to windows machine. The best you can do is run adobe gamma on both machines or a similiar program that will try to get the colors right on most monitors.
Macs don't have this problem, hence one of the big reasons why they are so used in the graphics world. ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

Despite the fact that Macintosh computers do have built in colour management features, they often do suffer from this, believe me ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Dr.Bang: I bought some of those new gamma corrected pencils and paper from a sarcastic little guy in an art store that said it would increase the quality of my drawings. But I don't see a difference. (why aren't you on #eatpoo anymore?) |

How bout color management is 'better' on apple's that is one reason why they are used more widely for publishing and graphics work.. ? I've only worked on a few apples and never seen the issue much, although I'm a Windows guy myself and red looks different on everybodies monitor.. ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

it all depends on how the monitor is calibrates, or not in most cases..
some pple have the brightness of the monitor up to the highest position it will go.. others have it to low.. its all to do with if the hardware is set up correctly... |

hey all, new here, but anyway,
the colors will be different from machine to machine and monitor to monitor. if you have two monitors of the same brand, with the same settings, then the colors will be the same. that is the only way.
you can get close. adobe does make color profiles for most of the major market good - high quality monitors.
also, you can calibrate the monitor. laCie makes a product that will calibrate your monitor, printer and scanner. but expect to pay around $500.
as for the apple / pc thing, same thing happens on both. just that since apple makes both the machine and the monitor they are calibrated by apple. with pc's and non-mac monitors, there are just too many combinations, that there aren;t built in color profiles.
and lastly, if you're using a lcd monitor, don;t use a cheap one. there is a reason that the sgi, apple and other high end lcds cost so much.
as far as solutions go, a quick search on google gives you a few calibration sites and resources:
