Those of you who visit multiple art forums will notice this same message in other forums. Feel free to move this if this should go in another section. I'll keep this to just one topic here.
A friend and I are brainstorming about how a business idea we had would work, and whether there would be enough interest in it.
Right now, we're looking to partner with a printing company that would allow us to print high quality prints and posters of artists' works and sell them. These would be done on demand, with us providing the printing, commerce infrastructure, and the site behind it all.
We'll provide these services to the artist, along with a section in our own site, he can sell directly from his own site, and participate in various promotions. This wouldn't cost anything for an artist, since we take a small percentage from the sales.
There's only two places that do something similar, DAPrints and Cafepress. DAPrints seems to work with set artists, and cafepress doesn't seem to handle prints for some reason.
Don't worry, nothing's set up yet, we're just seeing if there's any interest so this isn't exactly an advertisement.
So our big question is would you take advantage of such a service?
What rates and prices would be reasonable for you?
That kind of safeguards would you like in place beyond the norm to make sure your works are protected?
Anyone know of legal issues surrounding such a service? |
