hello,
here comes my PC config:
-- duron 800;
-- 768 Mo RAM;
-- matrox G400Max32;
-- wacom graphire / wacom intuos A4;
I work under win2K in 1280  1024.
With photoshop 7, on an image size of 3000  3000 (more or less), the stroke is really jerky if I paint quickly;
with Painter 7, the result is better, but there is a quite long delay before the display.
Certainly it is possible to really work (i.e. quick, fast redraw, large resolution) with a tablet and both of those software.
Maybe an element of my config is weak...
Could you help to solve this?
more RAM (?!), faster CPU... I do not know.
thanks |

in photoshop you need to take the size of your image in Mb 3000x3000 = 25.7Mb and multiply by 5 to get the amount of physical RAM photoshop needs so you need to allocate 128Mb of RAM ( i reccomend you set 80% to photoshop), i'd also have a seperate partition allocated as a scratch disk..
i have 768Mb Allocated to Photoshop and a 2Gb Partition for scratch and i find no trouble on my box..
under 2k swap space is important, with 768Mb you shouldn't need a large amount, set your swap to 256 min 256 max this should help clearup some of the chundering you get
