http://www.sumaleth.com/links/
I think it's complete. Phew!
This URL is hopefully only a temporary home - I'm hoping to move it into the Sijun server if I can, otherwise I'll have to add advertisements to it (and they'd be popups too). Don't want that.
The link submission thing seems to be working correctly now - some people have already been submitting links, so they proved to be good tests of the system. So everyone should feel free to start adding links if they want. Since it's untested for a heavy submission load I'll keep making backups of the database just in case, but Coranto (the "news" program I'm using to run the database) is a pretty tight system so I'm not expecting any problems.
There are some tweaks that will be made, I'm just waiting on some new Coranto addons. And I'm sure it'll be tweaked as things go along.

Oh, and thanks for the comments in the other thread. I tried to incorperate as many as I could, but not all were possible at this point. I'd certainly like to include link-counts beside each category at this point.
Row.

Thanks. You are certainly the man now. Soon you will reach godlike status and you'll disappear and people will talk about you for years on end wonder what you are doing, what you are eating etc.
Or maybe not..
Anyways...
I'll add some nice links this weekend. |

i can see alot of new artist added, hope too see other sections expanding as well
well one last sugestion , i know there is a email to you but i can't imagine a link database without "submit a broken link" button next to EVERY link. If it's automatic people will more often tell u abot broken links beacuse it's just one click for them instead of writing whole e-mail. Maybe i sound lazy but that's the truth. |

So Suma... can we just start submitting links to this thing? It looks great, BTW. I think it's great that you did this for the community. |

edraket: I'll add some more administrators before I leave for better pastures.
Blind: fixed, thanks.
oDD: I'm slowly adding all my browser Favourites, so all the sections will be filled in soon. And as per your suggestion, I've added a "report broken link" button to each line. At the moment this just goes to a form you have to fill in, but I'm hoping to find a way to pass the details through the link.
Whoever: someone said there should be a "Comics" theme, and I agreed so I've added it to Artists and Communities.
Lunatique: I needed a break from my work anyway.
Thanks to everyone else for the comments. |

This thing is addictive. I've added like 3840993 links and I can't stop! I feel like my entire Favourites needs to be added in order for the madness to hault.
Damn you, Suma. Damn you. |

Suma great work. If you are using email, you could do this.
<a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=broken_link">Broken Link?</a>
See the ?subject=broken_link
Just put the topic after the equals, and your email should arrive with the subject line as 'broken link'
May not be what you are looking for, but it may help anyway. |

Pixel: If you've really added that many links then there must be a bug somewhere because I haven't seem them in the Administration window yet. :} There have been about 30 "guest" submitted links so far.
Ian Jones:
I actually read up about PHP and converted the "Submit Broken Link" page to PHP. So when people click on those little broken-link icons now it takes them to a Submit form that is already filled out.
It's pretty cool actually. I'm wondering now if I should have done the whole page in PHP. I think I could have done with with 1 .php file instead of the ~50 .shtml files it takes now.
Oh well. Back to adding links.. |

Don't bother changing it, unless you see any flaws in the system. If it aint broke don't fix it. |

Heheh, I was obviously exaggerating, Suma. I haven't really submitted 3840993 links. I've submitted like 20. :P But still.. leave me alone, I'm lazy. ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

another thing, could you make "non art" or "random musings" category in the thread section. This database is related to sinju and threads like "why do artist don't get girls" are so cool =].
This way we don't have to concern about best thread section on this forum anymore. |

yeah, i will delete the graphic bookmarks section too.
Anyway i'm lazy so if someone could input this data it would be great

[edit]another thing, is it possible to make that when you submit a link and when the message "thank you" appers there is link "go back to database" or even better, after few sec. you are automaticly redirected there (just like when you submit a post on this board)[/edit]

oDD:
About the redirecting; I'll see if I can work out how to do it. I'm sure it's possible with PHP. Although I just middle-click on the "Submit Link" button so each one is made in a new window.
About random musings threads: not really for this archive.
--
This is replacing my bookmarks too. This was actually something I've been planning to do for at least a year. Part of it was even set up back then but I could see it was going to be a bigger project than I assumed so I gave up.
My caricature site even has a little "-> Art Links" button in anticipation of me ever getting around to it. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

there are some new bugs in submit engine!
whwn i click "submit" the new window pops up (thats ok) and then when i chose a category another window pops up (thats bad) and it is opened on bad link section anyway.
"close window" button in the "thank you" screen didin't work either |

oDD: okay, yeah. I've been tweaking the code to get the html file sizes down and part of that was to set it up so that all links are "New Window" by default. I just need to find all the links that I don't want to do that and individually stop them.
So the Submit forms are doing it? Okay, i can fix that.
>when i chose a category another window pops
>up (thats bad) and it is opened on bad link
>section anyway.
These ones I'm not sure about? All the categories on the front page should open into the same window, and the dropdown menu should too.
And which link is incorrectly opening into the Bad Links page?
Thanks for the bug testing.
(and also thanks for all the link submissions) |
