I think Phil had a setup like this that he showed here once. Or, to anyone who's familiar with using dual monitors vertically, one atop the other...
I'm using a G550 with a 15" flat panel as a secondary (tools & reference), sitting on top of my 19" Trinitron which is my primary (work area). I've successfully extended the desktop from one monitor to the other, but it defaults to extending horizontally - left to right, meaning: when my cursor goes off the right side of my primary below, it comes out on the left side of the secondary on top. Is there any way to extend vertically?
To be honest, the way it is now doesn't bother me too much, I'm just curious to know if this can be done. I've got the Wacom set to proportional and spanning all of the primary and about an inch or so of the secondary. To me, this seems like a good choice, because I have my PS tool palette on the left side of my secondary, just within reach of the pen. 90% of my tablet space is used on the primary.
BTW... anyone who is looking for a good 2D-only card, the G550 is certainly one to consider. It looks absolutely beautiful on my Trinitron. Everything seems so bright and crisp, compared to the GeForce I used to use.
Also, if you're looking to build a new machine for digital artwork, a Pentium 2.0a P4 with 1Gb of RDRAM & two ATA100 drives in a RAID-0 array absolutely smokes in Photoshop. I mean, stupid-fast. I created a separate 10Gb partition just for PS Scratch Disk, and I'm throwing 5,000+ pixel images around with ease. No stuttering with the pen, no hesitation, nothing. I'm a very happy camper so far. |

Go to Display Properties. If you have true multi monitor support included (which, if you're running at least Win2k and tick the appropriate box when installing your Matrox drivers, you will), then you'll see something like this:
.
Just click & drag one of your monitors above the other.

Whoa! It's that simple?! I never even thought to try that! I was only clicking on them to bring up their properties, etc. I didn't know you could actually drag those boxes around. Nice! And, yes... that's exactly what I see under display props. I'll try it as soon as I get home. Thanks Catfish!!
Ti4400, huh? Nice card |
