Hey! We're looking for a talented, up-and-coming artist to design the front cover of Merlins upcoming album, which will be titled "The Wahoo Moment". Since Merlin is an independent, rising band, we can't offer much capital-wise, but we're sure we can arrange something. We will also off course expose the artist to the max of our capability.
OK, to the cover design. The picture we have in mind that will communicate the message of the album is quite a simple one. A little boy with a winter hat on, standing on a snowy field with only the dark blue sky in the background. The boy is holding a burning sparkler in one hand in the air towards the sky.
Since the picture will be printed, the resolution probably needs to be quite high. We are planning to print the end of August. We just hope you look at this as a fun project! Please help us out.
You can post your pictures here if you can, or e-mail it to us at [email protected].
We're looking forward to seeing your art!

Sounds like you could just photograph that, why even paint it? |

and never offer payment as "exposure"... especially here, heh. But I agree, I don't see why you don't just photograph your idea, unless you want a cartoony look, or an edited photo. |

Hi,
We are after a more cartoony feel to it, it kind of goes better with the mood we're after. And you're right about the exposure though, it came out wrong. What we mean is that it might also be a good chance for artists who haven't got a lot of stuff published to get their work seen, and earn a little at the same time. There are a lot of established artists here who really wouldn't need it, but perhaps also some up-and-coming who would?
It would be cool if some of you guys gave it a shot though!

Just curious, when you say "dark blue sky" do you mean a it's a night scene?
I like the idea of the image a lot, so I'll give it a try if I have the time.

rhombus: That would be great! Yeah, it should be a night scene because the sparkler would probably look better then.
Looking forward to seeing your picture!
