I've been freelancing quite a while now, I was thinking about getting an art representative.. so are there any interested agents around?

Here's some of my 2d and 3d art: my portfolio

Also if somebody has had experiences (good or bad) with agents I would like to know about it!

hrmm... well to be honest i dont have any experience with agents. i barely have experince in drawing - but i'll tell you about my .. predicted experiences

well - let see. What does an agent do? basically get you a contract with some company and then take a percent of the profits ..

I figure if you just use your website as an agent and yourself as an agent - you can try to work your way in there... somehow.. it just feels like so much more of an accomplishment.

granted there will be a lot of dead time in between where no job - just work on honing your skills. Mmmm.. haha okay lost my train of thought.

i'll post more when ithink of it

I was seriously considering it. You're right, though. It is a bit pretentious. Imagine saying to a client "you can view my portfolio at WWW.GFXGOD.COM, you pathetic little worm!"

... you see what I'm sayin'. :P

Timo man, you're soooooooo talented.

I've watched you improve exponentially over the years just here at Sijun. Good luck to ya in all your professional ventures, bro.

Oh, I just wanted to add that in your online portfolio you might wanna consider updating it with more of you really cool matte stuff, and a few less pictures of those big dragons. Just a thought, not meant to be offensive at all.

Anyway, I love you.

Great artwork!

I don't have much advice about getting an agent, but one thing I do knowyou need to get a domain name for your site! Come on! Do it!

Anyway... Back to the topic (your stoff is righteous though). Typically I've heard bad stories about agents that charge you to rep. Otherwise: check out some of these links and research in the book "The Illustrator's Workbook" and other books like it. They also have a website at www.workbook.com. I would recommend talking to at least Richard Solomon, if you get a chance. A friend of mine got some really good feed back from him. Also the Workbook site is cool because you get to see who they rep so you can almost tell right off if a rep word be interested in your stuff. Call first and then, send them 8 to 10 of your ablsolute-mindnumbingly-best pieces. That's as much of what I can remember of what I've been told about approaching reps by one of my old college Profs.

Hope it helps.

JN

Yeay, same goes for me but I'm about 2.5 months younger
Right now I got a job but nothing to do with art or drawing or illustrating but my fixed-term contract is running out in september, so I'll have PLENTY of time to draw til my arm falls off... and when I'm a grown-up I want to be as good as Bg (or at least as good as his "sketches" - hell!!)
Anyway, it's a gruesome world sitting in front of the PC all day not being able to draw anything. Geez, for the first time since I left school I actually wish to be back there (well, not for learning purposes obviously, at least not the stuff they want me to learn).

Oh no! Boss coming in!
must - leave - forum - now . . .
