i bought myself a new monitor today. Its an NEC Multisync LCD 1550 V. I looked at it in the shop and i thought everything was okay but now i can see that in the top part of the monitor, sreen fades in darker colors. when i turn the monitor 90degrees the same place is darker (that means thats not caused by the angle i'm looking at it ?)
this is my first lcd so i don't know what to think.so what does it mean?
a) i'm a sucker and i bought broken lcd
b) i'm a sucker and i bought shity nec lcd
c) i'm a sucker and i don't know how to calibrate my monitor ( some special appz to fix this?)
d) i'm a sucker and i don't know that this is a normal thing for lcds (!)
Please tell me something ? PLease i don't know what to do and this is really driving me crazy. I't will be sucky sucky to work in this state in photoshop. |

d) :-)
LCD's all have a 'viewing angle' Optimum is usually within 170 degrees of dead center, so at 90 degrees away, you're going to see fading. The broader the available viewing angle, the more expensive the display.
I'm jealous :-) Still on the old CRT's at my place. |

This is not normal, but try changing resolutions/refresh rates and see what happens. In any case you should really go back and exchange it.

NEC's displays page has information about viewing angles, for the 1550, vertical viewing angles are 45 degrees off axis, and horizontal angles are 60 degrees off axis.
Good luck! |
