Hi all,
I come from a 3D background. Lately, I've been experimenting with combining 2 and 3D to give my 3D work a "looser" more energetic feel that is usually associated with the clarity of a 3D image.
What I've been doing is making a simple 3D model, lighting it and using that as a base to paint over.
This image was done in Zbrush, which is a 2D/3D program. The original model was made, left white in color, with a high ambience as to not have dark shadows, then heavily painted over with colors and other image enhancers (burn, dodge-type tools)
There is some really beautiful work on this forum. Does anybody else use a mixure of tools, such as 3D, to help arrive at a hybrid image?
Thanks for your time!

Have you seen some of the artists that uses Poser and then paint over the Poser models? I've only seen one that was halfway decent, the rest were all pretty cheesy.
I've been thinking about doing a 2D/3D combo for a long time now, but I need to catch up on the 3D part before I attemp it. |

i say you got some nice results there. some people here do it when they have something with a really dodgy perspective, such as airships or really weird looking vehicles and things like that. i might give that a try one day, but yeah, you got a cool result there. |
