.. The ones I use to draw looks like white pieces of rock/stone, I heve seen a lot of clouds, but I cant seem to reproduce them on paper/computer.
Anyone know about a tutorial or a guide or something?
(sorry about my bad english, Im not fully awake yet) |

could You show some examples? single clouds are quite easy to do. Sky is much more difficult sometimes.
Pay attention to your edges. If you paint on paper try to use dry brush.
When I use oils or acrylics I mostly put a few strokes with a lot of paint and use my finger to smudge it. |

You should ask CEENDA, a member of the forum. And I think he had some tutorials about it (search in Google). He's the master of clouds.
Another master of clouds is SOCAR MYLES (she's an old member too) who has tutorials about the subject too (again, Google is the tool to use). |

tayete: thanks.
Ms MYLE's tut is definately the way to go. Mine was written between a lecture on AI and a Java Programming lab, so it's a bit rushed and a bit naff, but the files are still correctly linked and can be found at:

There's also a couple of cloud pics on my website which has just been updated today with some newer stuff and I'll be adding a better cloud tutorial to it sometime. Not a 'definative guide' or anything, but just a walk-through of painting clouds.
Also, I'm actually going to be resuming lurker status on all the forums now. I'll still be uploading new work onto the various galleries, but probably won't be participating as an active member much thesedays. |

Socal Myles tutorial in 2 places:

and
http://www.gorblimey.com/tutorials/3.html
I think there are some more on the forum, go to the little button that says "search" and type in clouds or cloud tutorials... or just look at some peoples...
I found a good way to do clouds in Photoshop 7 is choose a brush, then go to the scatter function and turn it up, then turn your oppacity down, then just paint a midtone grey, brown... whatever color you need... then go for highlights and shadow... then go back in with an eraser and turn the opacity down and erase out randomly so you get that mist effect... I dunno, Im not the best at clouds but it does me okay... Sometimes if you look at a reference picture and just paint what you see helps too... Good Luck, |
