I just reformatted my computer and lost all the codecs that I had installed in WMP, and now I can't view most of the videos I used to. I was wondering if you could help me out and point me towards the necessary codecs, some of the most common ones, such as the DivX codec and whichever other ones are frequently used. Thanks a lot in advance.

http://www.divx.com/divx/ for the latest divx codec. Here you should be able to find the rest of it.
