I'm trying to convert a couple of hundred files from an obscure image format, which I happen to have the Photoshop import plugin for.
I thought I'd be able to do this with the Automate command, but I'm having problems.
I've created an action which opened one of the files, then saved it in a different folder as a TGA.
If I set the Batch options to 'Override Action 'Save As' Commands', then the files are saved in their original format.
If I set the Batch options to not 'Override Action 'Save As' Commands', then the files are all saved into the same filename that I used when creating the action. That is, only one file is produced when running the batch file.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Cheers

I hare an action which does exactly that, except I'm converting files into tifs. A couple of things to check:
1) When you record the action, make sure you've got one of your images loaded. Press record, and then "save as" the file with the options you want. Stop recording. Save the action.
2) When using the batch processing dialogue, you should only have to mess with the set, the action and then select the folder you want to convert. My destination is set to "save and close".
This should convert each picture file in the selected folder. My guess is you've used the "save" command (and picked a filename) instead of the "save as" which is causing photoshop to load each of your images in the folder, but resaving it on top of itself with the file name you selected. So in essence, you're converting the entire folder, but the net result is only end up with one file. By using the "save as" command instead, you will have to go through and edit the file extensions from the desktop (this is true on the mac) AFTER you've converted the entire folder --but this is substantially less work than manually loading and resaving all the images anyway.
Important tip: always batch process from a COPY of the original folder in case something goes horribly awry. Hope this helps.
