I decided to give it a spin.

I messed around with the brushes, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find the equivalent stuff that I use in Photoshop and Painter.

For example, WHERE the hell is the blend tool? If I can just find that, I'd be happy. I tried seaching in the help file, but nope, nothing.

Also, there isn't a key I can hold down to sample a color? I have to press "I" for the eyedropper, sample the color, and THEN press the F5 for the brush tool? Man, that's lame.

I would also like to be able use a chosen brush shape to blend, without it laying any colors down. Kind of like turning resaturation to zero in Painter.

Basically, I'm looking for it to be able to do similar things that Painter and Photoshop can do. If it can't live up to that expectation, then there's no reason for me to keep it on my hard drive.

Someone point me the right direction?

It's an effect tool called "undither." The icon for it is blue and circular. You can assign any nib you want to it . . . I used it a lot for the clouds in my pin-up of Alita.

Yeah, its lame. I'm trying to find an inside contact at Corel that might be able to give me priority feature requests.

There's a key to interactively change brush size though. Hold shift and then click and drag up and down.

Under your pen settings, put sustain color at 0 and bleed at 100. Alternately, there's a pointy smudge tool in amongst the effects tools. It looks like a finger.

I wish there were a resource for this kind of info, but there seem to be very few people actually painting in Photopaint.

When I get home maybe I'll post a screenshot of how I have my interface set up.

Holy crap, I've been exploring Photopaint 10 some more, and I must say, I'M IMPRESSED.

The brush controls are actually quite deep, and beats the hell outta Photoshop for painting. I can't believe I haven't heard more about this nice software.

It really IS the perfect combination of Photoshop and Painter!

I tried your suggestion for the pen setting, but I ran into a little problem:

For some brushes, once I set the sustain color and bleed as you suggested, it worked like a charm, HOWEVER, on some brushes, a slight bit of the current color still shows up. Why is that? Wait, nevermind, I just figured it out. I have to set the brush Texture's Sustain color to 0 too.

Wow, I never knew how cool Photopaint was. I think I will do a painting or two with it!

Lol don't worry Lunatique there are more of us than you think.

The only way I've found around this is; the space bar toggles between the current tool and the last tool used, so pick the brush then the colour-picker and flip between as needed.

Yes I agree Photo-Paint is a great piece of software.
