hey
i was thinkin about gettin a new computer home built (600 bucs, my parents said they'd split it 50/50 with me, so it'll cost me 300 bucs).
The specs are as follows:
1.8 ghz AMD processor
30 gig HD
256 MB DDRAM (i think that's what it's called... and i want to get it expanded to 512 instead)
i forget what all the cards were :-\

so, what do you think of this? I'm thinkin of asking if I can get a gig of ram instead, but I don't know how much that would cost. Do you think 512 is enough?
And processing speed... is AMD good? I know 1.8 ghz is pretty good, eh. But maybe a Pentium 4 would be better?

I don't do too much on the computer... don't play many games at all. just browse sites, talk on AIM, and do art.

any input is appreciated

ps. I thought i asked this before, but i don't actually remember it, and i searched for it and didn't find anything. so now i'm sure i didn't post this before. lol

The Athlon will be just fine . . . as quick as the fastest P4s for less money. And 512 megs of RAM is probably enough for now.
