Hi
I am in a weird position that I cant relocate any time soon and I love graphics, digital art and web design/scripting. Do you think this place is a good place to apply to?

I actually have a degree from AIPH (Art Institute of Philadelphia). Good school, as far as trade schools go; most of the teachers actually know what they're talking about. Of course, the ones that don't know really don't know, and I did run into a ffew that were not interested in trying something they'd never heard of before, but that happens everywhere.
So, IMHO: I liked the place. Had a good time, learned a lot, both from teachers and from friends. |

Steelwind: Cool. Thanks Problem with online would be that I would really get to see people working.
MadSamoan: I'm in Alabama currently going to University of Alabama with a Computer Sciences Major.. I cant really find a good art school.. I could get an Art/design major at my University but they arent too famous for pumping out any professional artists.
Any advice? should I try the UA art department? |

Alabama? Perhaps you should consider the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD); they have very strong programs. The there's the Portfolio Center in Atlanta (damned good school but pricey; everyone I know that went there had no trouble finding work) and the Art Institute there as well (and Atlanta College of Art). Georgia State University's School of Art and Design has one of the highest ranked graphic design programs in the nation.
With the exception of Georgia State, the others all have programs specific to Interactive Design and New Media technologies.
SCAD is probably the strongest, because they have an extensive Masters of Fine Arts program (MFAs in illustration, graphic design, interactive design, motion graphics to name a few); Georgia State is the only other that has a Masters program, but it's limited to sculpture, photography, art ed, print making and painting.
