Hi,
Could someone explain to me how to put a alpha channel in a *.png so that 3dsMax would understand it?. I'm currently using photoshop, but it doesn'T seems to save the alpha channel...
Please.... ??
Thankx

Photoshop is a bit weird with PNG's, since version 6 (I think) it no longer saves the transparency information in a channel but rather in a layer. So instead of using an alpha channel simply foat the layer and use the alpha channel to select your new layer, delete the bits you don't want and also delete the original background layer. You now have a transparent PNG which other apps will interpret properly (with an alpha channel!). Don't know why Adobe decided to do it this way but there you go... |

Ahhhh. Nostalgic feelings...
I worked on a game using the renderware engine. The only way to use alpha was with png's
Argh...
I would usually just save as 32 bits targa's and convert them in paint shop pro. Worked just fine.
There was also this other thing where photoshop would save png's with an all white alpha channel. Not cool for your texture memory. |
