CDIS isn't bad considering how "crappy" I heard VFS was. VFS is 3 times as expensive, and that new "Gamer's College" in downtown, Vancouver I think is just as expensive and just as idiotic. CDIS though, I've been there though and for me it's what I expected. It filled the knowledge holes I had, and although some things were sloppy here and there...as long as you use the resources (as in networking) you're most likely come out with a job. There's a lot of stupid people there as in people who don't even know how to use a computer (students), but if you disregard it and just work on your portfolio (which is the whole essence of going there if you've never 3D animated before)...you'll get your money's worth. Though the course I took was more of a crash course in everything. CDIS has expanded campus', gotten new hardware, and has switched from Max entirely to Maya so I've heard...heck, if anybody has heard of Aaron Chan, he got into the cinematics team at Blizzard Entertainment fresh from CDIS. |

Burnaby baby that's where I live
But the location of Burnaby College eludes me...I only commute btwn 3 points, UBC, Metrotown, Home.
Considering that I don't know much about the institute, I can't say I trust their digital graphics program...
What software programs are they teaching?
Last time I checked on CDIS was coupla years ago back in High School. Decent. Although judging from their glossy pamphlets...they either seem to be lacking *cough* skilled students or they're not teaching the *cough* ART skills. |

lol, you bet they're lacking skilled students. But you gotta remember hon, not everybody is a super star. A lot of people have weaknesses and varying strengths. Not a lot of people are totally wicked at both 3D and 2D, AND can do graphic design and the other billion things in anything to do with the word "creative". How many people have you seen that have been able to do everything at least substantially well? I'm sure there's a lot people on sijun.com who probably match up, and there's a lot of people elsewhere. Though, I don't think they have like say 1000 people out of the 2000 people who go to CDIS who are like that.
And some of the teachers there are a bit...colorful. I liked my animation teacher, he was cool and worked the industry for quite a bit. Though I think a lot of the profs were just turned off by the pure idiotcy of people who didn't even know how to use a computer. You know, kicks morale in the ass. hehe |
