I'm about to order a Wacom tablet finally, but I really want the 6x8 but shelling out the 300+ clams on it is gonna hurt my wallet big time. Would be really disappointed if i go with the smaller 4x5 or is the size difference that noticable? Also Intuos 2 4x5 vs Grapphire 2 4x5? I really want to make sure I spend my money on something that will allow me to grow and learn more than constrain me. Thanks for any comments

cheers!

A small Wacom is better than no Wacom at all. Get the small one to tie you over until you can afford a larger one.

I think Dhabih (?) had his first tablet Artz 4x5 or something. And he said he still used it when at home.
Hehe, it doesnt matter dude, it's all good!

well rats! it seems that every website that i go to for buying hte 4x5 intuos2, is out of stock. (did that make sense?) anyway, either i just have bad luck, OR maybe the man upstairs is trying to convince me to get the 6x8 intuos 2

i'll do a little bit more searching before i make my final decision. thanks again you two for the thoughts.

You crazy? I dont suppose you just go on pricewatch and choose the cheapest price and then try to buy it.. hmm
You forgot something very important like www.resellerratings.com

There are about 300 negative comments for harmony and 2 positive (which were the people who work there ehehe)

hehe, yeah i've read bad things about harmony for quite a few years. don't worry man, when i buy i do quite the research. i usually buy from specific places, but my regular online stores don't carry wacom tablets

welp, i'm gonna have to decide here soon, i really wanted the 4x5 intuos2 usb, over the graphire2 because of the better pen, as well as the higher amount of pressure sensitivity.

anyway, as shizo and a few others said, just buy one and get used to it before i go drop the cash on the big boy.

thanks again buys, i love this forum, everyone's art is inspirational in some form!

Wacom has been around the tablet scene for a looooooooooooooooooooong time now, so go with them rather than with these unknown guys.

Resellerratings.com . . . don't buy anything online without checking the vendor here first.

I THINK there is no big difference of intuos and intuos2, maybe couple features and color

ArtzII is old i thinks.. It might not have USB connection, isnt it Dhabih's first tablet?

If you're using photoshop I'd choose the Intuos. I own a Graphire, and it's very slow in updating the strokes. If you quickly draw a circle in Photoshop, you'll understand why - it becomes an octagon instead In painter it seems like the program evens out the path, but in Photoshop it can be quite 'orrible. I believe this to be a problem with the Graphire refresh, while the Intuos is twice as fast. Just something to chew on...

I bought a 4x5 a few weeks ago but I've used a 6x8 at work for about 2 months or so - there isnt really much of a difference except with the bigger one I have to move my hand further. a disadvantage of the 4x5 is yeh is does kill your wrist after a while - especially is you are playing several hours of red alert 2 online - however it kicks the mouses ass - but dont try to use a graphics tablet playing counter strike cause you'll go all spastic and swing your face and hit your head on the screen. also another problem is that there is a slight delay when you try to write normally, that i s not runnig writing - if you draw a 'e' very small and quick - you get a 'c' if you draw it smaller a quicker you get a very very tiny mini 'j'. farrr out that sux man. pissing me off. hope this helps
