here it is so far, you might want to read this first though http://home.domaindlx.com/liserstudios/main.htm
hello, I'm making my site right now. I'm using layers in the HTML, so I can layer the menu over the text field part. I don't see any other way of doing it without layers. I'm sure there is another way, but I'm not exactly an experienced designer.
My friend told me not to use layers, but I don't know why. I was wondering if they're ok to use. Maybe a lot of browsers don't support them? I don't know...
well, here's my site as is. just the template though. i still have to make my REAL banner, put the text links in the top and left menu, and other fun stuff. |

Hi, I took a quick look at your site.
Whereabouts is your menu going? Because I can't understand why you would want it to overlap the text in the main area. I'm confused...
I'm going to crit your design aswell, so hope you dont mind some harsh crit.
I don't like your colour choices, sure blue and green go together, but then to put in a washed out yellow just looks clashing.
Overall the colour choices are discord, they just don't work together. Spend some more time working on the colours, and make sure you choose the right ones. Experiment a lot and you'll get it right.
Other than that it just needs to all line up a bit more, the images seem to have obvious seams between them and discrepancies at their edges. Some of their borders are weird too, like they are an extra pixel to wide on one edge. All this makes it look messy, and you really need to iron out those creases.
I'm being pretty mean , so sorry... however I believe harsh crit is always the most useful, and I welcome a bashing of the same kind. It really helps you to learn even if you can cast away some of my crit as bullshit, you can usually always take away something of value.
I don't like the imagery in the top bar, the idea with the text is good, but I think you have cropped just a little too much. The background lansdscape is scratchy, lacks confidence in rendering, and is really hard to make out. The image of the person with the arm up, on the right... is also weak and scratchy, it looks like you have gone with the concept of liser studios, and therefore as a studio you have included and inprogress sketch (good idea btw), but I think you could have chosen a better sketch, besides the fact that it is blurry, I don't think it tells us much about you and your style, or what you like to draw and paint.
I feel bad after that, so I apologise. I hope the crit helps in some way. |

hey,
allrighty, i'm gonna mess with the colors in photoshop, hopefully that'll help out some, eh?
harsh crit is fine. that actually wasn't a very harsh crit.
btw, the banner is temporary. this is just a placeholder, i decided it'd be cool to paint one by hand, in acrylics. when was the last time you saw a banner in traditional art instead of digi art? lol... i think it'd be cool. btw, it's gonna be a lanscape, viewing from the top of a mountaiin over the plains below. i started it, but... well... i'll put it in the WIP section.
updated version of the site, tried to fix some things (tried to fix seems, tried out tables) http://home.domaindlx.com/liserstudios/stuff.htm
now how do you put text on top of tables like this. geesh. |

Hi again.
Ok, well I'll have to be really nasty next time! hehe.
I learnt most of my html from... www.htmlgoodies.com
You'll have to llok around a bit to find what you are looking for but I am certain I have seen it there. It is most likely in the tables or images section. If you are talking about just typing text into the tables then go right ahead it will work as long as you put it between the <td> </td> areas. For text over images though, you'll need to visit that site cos I can't remeber. |
