Would it be wiser for me to get a Wacom Graphire2 or a Wacom ArtZ II 6x8? Concidering they both be the same price? I'm really lost on what to buy here so any help at all would be greatly appreciated! |

The ArtZ II is the Wacom tablet series before the Intuos line. It came in the same sizes but was beige. It featured an older style pen which was a lot thinner and only had 512 levels of pressure sensitivity --about half that of the newer Intuos and about the same level as the current graphire. It didn't come with a mouse.
Early models of the ArtZ did not support a dual rocker switch on the pen or an eraser on the top. They also didn't support tilt. Make sure you're getting an ArtZ II.
My feeling is that an older model Artz II in good condition is all the tablet the Intuos is today. The extra levels of pressure don't seem to make much of a difference and I've already got a mouse. The single largest factor in my buying decision is getting a decent tablet size. If I were in a position of only purchasing a 4x5 Intuos or a 6x8 ArtZ II, I'd get the ArtZ II ever time. My 4x5 Intuos is just a little on the "jittery" side for me.
Just my $.02.

I have an Artz II. I bought it for $80 a few years ago and it still works great! I even have the same nib on the end of the pen that it had when I bought it.
Works good for me!!! ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
