I've done some texturing just for fun...and I am going to start an internship soon where I will do some more. We use the Quake 3 engine & the Torque engine. A few places to look are: http://holodeck.st.usm.edu (Under Digital Imaging) www.3dcafe.com www.gamasutra.com
I think theres some stuff at planetquake too.
You may also want to try www.tutorialfind.com www.teamphotoshop.com www.thinkdan.com
hmmmm...oh yeah, I'm posting some links on my website too. http://www.sunravendesign.com

The book that was suggested is awesome too.

hope that helps

I'll recommend the Unwrap UVW plugin from Peter Watje for 3DS MAX.. I've seen it for v.3 and v.4..

Good luck!
