who in this forum, if anyone, has entered this competition? I just want to know what I'm competing against when its time for nationals

my art teacher is the head of our region so I was able to disqualify many people from the competition (legitimately of course) its nice though, some of the best artist in the region can't follow directions worth a damn

well first off, its done with. the deadline was last saturday to enter in your portfolios and individual pieces of artwork.

second its only for highschool juniors and seniors.

of course, its only in america because supposedly the rest of the world sucks or so I've been told.

ah, i'm only a high school senior...
but, oh well, too late.
i know there's a PA state wide one, and after that it goes regional, and then national. winner gets their stuff in the white house!
and, the rules are one piece, any medium (except digital) and NO references! so no other stupid kids sitting there gridding their stuff! yeah! i love it!
we'll see how i do though... i HOPE it's in february or march. otherwise i don't think i'll be able to do it.

yeah i entered this when i was in highschool a few years ago, i won a few keys, my brother won somethings and both our works were shown on walls. and i think he got some money out of it. i didn't like those competitions so i did it half assed. i know a few people who entered this year and they're pretty good. if you want to see what type of artwork i do check out my site. in the paintings, that's the type of stuff i did in highschool.

ahhhhhh!

/me runs away

I mean every country except america and australia sucks. yeah thats it

this year, it seems most people did their work half assed or didn't even know what the hell they were doing on the computer. about 80% was photo manipulation, done very poorly mind you, and if it was an original piece of work it looked like it was made in mspaint . I'm not worried about getting nothing out of this.

well shit. I open my big mouth and it all hits the fan. The main judge for the portfolios was big on pieces of art that was done in pencil and paint and that had big important concepts and meanings. All my pieces were geared for commercial use.

bah. Hopefully it'll go better tomorrow when they judge the individual pieces.
