Hi,
Painter Classic is an appetizer based on a the full Painter version 5. It's best features are a sampling of some of Painter's brushes and the Clone painting feature.
It has a lame excuse for a Floater (early version Painter Layer) that can be made with a selection drawn on the Canvas and the selection clicked with the Adjuster tool. As long as nothing else is clicked, including the Canvas or another tool, the Floater can be moved. Once anything else is done or clicked, the Floater drops permanently to the Canvas wherever it was last moved. The only way to move it again is to use Undo until you're back to that step. I don't think many people even bother to use it.
The brushes are pretty nice ones so you can have some fun painting, though unlike full Painter versions that allow the user to create new Brush Variants by using the huge number of setting adjustments, Painter Classic only allows two or three: Opacity, Brush Size, and Clone Color are the ones I can recall without looking.
There are some extra Brush Libraries on the CD that can be loaded and used, but not many.
If you happen to get Painter Classic bundled with a Wacom tablet and don't already own a full Painter version, I'd suggest that you use it. Work all of the tutorials found on the CD in Pclassic.pdf (Painter Classic User Guide). They're buried in many of the chapters but you can find them pretty quickly by looking through the table of contents. It's better to read the material leading up to the tutorial, though, or it could be confusing.
Painter Classic doesn't qualify its owner for upgrade pricing to the only Painter version currently being sold by Corel, Painter 7.
Hope that helps. |
