I am having link problems in dreamweaver... whenever I link a file or a picture to another page, it puts the link that is on my computer ie. (link to www.weather.ca) I put that link and it links to: C://Windows/Desktop/Josh/EGFILES/www.weather.ca
How do I fix this? |

Have you filled the site-options? There is a field for the server-path.

Yeah, I had that problem before. The problem is that Dreamweaver will literally link to exactly where the file is. So, if it's on your desktop, when u upload it, it will look for the file on your desktop and not find it.
What I do is make a directory path for each site. For instance, a site named MarshallX. make a folder called MarshallX. Then indside there put in an images folder. Save all the HTML in the MarshallX folder and all images under the IMAGES folder. Make subdirectories as needed.
But also, go to SITE / DEFINE SITES / EDIT and make sure you have the REFRESH LOCAL FILE LIST and ENABLE CACHE boxes checked. And make sure you define the LOCAL ROOT FOLDER for the site. That way, no matter where you put the main root folder it will always find the right path.
I haven't had any problems with these methods. Give them a try.

SIMPLE!
ADD "http://" (without quotes) in the url box. example: "http://www.whatever.com"
that's the only way dreamweaver knows to link it to something to the net.
