I reccomend the book Modeling A Character in 3Ds MAX by Paul Steed. He worked on Quake 2 and 3.
I'm by trade an animator, but I had some modeling projects to do; I was having some trouble with them, as all of my teachers didn't want to go into low-poly work, so I had to teach myself.
One day, I realized I had about eight different books on animating and none on modeling, that which was giving me the most trouble. I picked up this book at my local Borders; it helped me immensely.
Highly reccomended.

yes, the Steed Book is awesome! you can learn alot if you're a beginner character modeler.
it does a great job of explaining things as well as providing you with the files in progression for each chapter. Very nice! |
