How come we constantly see this nudity warning???
Just because you see a bit of skin it's not nessecarily P0rn, and inapropriate......
Or is it????!!
However, gore and mutilation is A-ok......
Reminds me of american censorship laws (Am I correct on that one??)
I just doesn't make sense.
How do you guys feel about this subject??

It is messed up how some people love watching violent films but when someone sees a naked woman or god forbid a penis (I can say penis here right? heh) it gets censored.
Sex and the naked body are natural things
Violence is not natural unless it's for food
I hate the kind of people who push for censorship on every little thing that upsets them. If they had their way we'd be watching the telle tubbies on a daily basis (a fate worse than death) and sex would be a forbiddon subject because it's too dirty.
Personally I enjoy both - but not when violence happens in real life. I wouldn't find any enjoyment over a schoolmate being mutilated by a psycho. A movie is a movie unless you take it more seriously than you should.
By the way, shouldn't this be in R. Musings?

I don't know FireFry (about the place where this should be), because I thought Sukhoi was asking why we put this warning in message threads ?
If that's so, it's because a lot of ppl here surf the board from work. And they could get the axe if anyone noticed some racy pics/draws on their screen or HD even temporary files.
I won't get into the pr0n/violence debate so cheers! |

It's not a big deal were the thread belongs, I just said it for the sake of saying it
I agree w/ what Mr. Lonely said too. I visit Sijun when I'm at school or work so I have to be a little careful about what threads I can go click. I don't want to have to explain myself why my monitor screen is filled with a naked portrait of a girl.

Nudity cencorship has a lot to do with American principles. America is largely based on puritan foundations - can't show a piece of skin, but watching a public hanging is okay.
If you cross over to Europe, sex is played out as much as it's violence is censored. I think that's much better.
I'm not saying this is the direct reason why either. |

i dont think nudity should need to be 'tagged' on an art forum. thats just lame. porn yeah, but those threads should be deleted once theyre encountered anyhow.
but nudity? gah. if your 'boss' cant handle you viewing art at work then thats fine, dont look at art at work. do your job instead. |

(sorry about the possible misplacement of this topic, I just promtly reacted to a nudity warning I saw....)
I agree with you on tha tagging issue Roundeye!!
And why is it that you have to 'explain' yourself to someone looking over your shoulder just because you happen to be viewing an illustration of a naked body?? Jesus Christ we all have 'em!!
Haha, some times it seems like censorship laws are made by parents who doesn't bother explaining to their kids what kind of strange moaning the people on tv just made...

Call me a wuss but I wouldn't risk getting fired (suspended, whatever) for a digital bombshell. I don't mind seeing any of it but some places have an absolute ZERO policy out there. I know. |

Where I'm working right now a couple of people got fired for sending around a picture of bart simpson without pants or doing something sexual... it was rated child pornography.
We have a strict zero tolerance, as it has no place in our office environment. I don't agree with it in anyway, but I don't have much to say about it so it's just a matter of conforming.
As I browse the images on this forum quite frequently I choose not to go into the threads labeled nudity as I know there is always a big risk of somebody looking at my screen.
Plus I don't want to get labeled as the guy who watches drawn 'porn' on his puter here at work.
So I think it's a good thing. |

Nudity and Gore are both ok with me, just as all other kinds of art are.
I'd like to add my vote on how sad it is that some people can't take either one.
Violence is an aspect of human nature.
Nude is something we all are.
That some people get offended, when they are shown people having sex, makes me want to pity them.
How shallow are they, that they cannot accept the multitude of expressions the world contains?
Makes me think about the born-again muslims in our country (nevermind that they never practiced their religion before they came).
They object to reading stories written by great Danish authors, because they find them blasphemic.
I laugh out loud!
(Jesus, folks, why don't they go back to whence they came!?)
I laugh the same way at people who can't take porn, nudity, violence, gays, other religions, etc.
As far as having porn on the forum - if Dhabih does not want it, to keep it kid friendly, it is alright by me.
But that really should be the ONLY reason.
Anything else, and we're talking majorly shallow personality.

In my opinion art cannot be defined exactly and therefore you can't realy set standards or limits so ANYTHING IS ALLOWED or so it should. Then again you can't expect people to like it just because it is different.
Am i right ? |

it's in human nature to fuck, kill, and infest. i personally don't watch "wholesome" entertainment (or tv), which is the source of the inevitable poison that leaves us, as a civilization, maimed and tame...to think like the empire (government) that surrounds us.
i think it starts in the home, with insecure parents trying to hide what's natural from their kids. i'm not sayin give your little gnomes hustler mag or guns magazine...but i think a child should know why mom doesn't have a penis or why he didn't see the stark drop his little sibling off at the door step. not to mention nudity is art, it has just become unchaste with perversions. sex is still beautiful, the body will always be, and gore is in us all. personally i think we need a balance in all things. good - evils. strong - weak. those idiots who say this is bad and taboo so don't do - and us who say fuck you, fuck them, fuck me....i'm going to do it anyway. i like gore and nudity in many forms. note: i don't like porn. just not to keen on seeing people belittle themselves for entertainment (mtv, wrestling, all the same)...as for sex, i'll enjoy locals just smoothly though.
a little overboard, but my opinion. =) |
