Hey,

I have been looking on the Intuos Series of the Wacom tablets - I have some questions, what is the best choice? Are the Intuos ones good? And how big should it be for drawings etc?

Give me some tips, and good ideas
(Haven't got THAT much money )

- Jesper

Well

I guess it depends on your style. If you like to paint on the wild size I think a bigger one would be great.
I currently own an a6 (the smallest)and an a3+ the a6 was ok untill I started working with the a3+ at work. But for real painting I think it's just a bit too small.
When the company went bankrupt the a3+ became mine. I just coulnd't imagine my life without. The only problem is that the a3 one is so big that it can't fit anywhere. And I have cropped the area I use to about about a4. It was just too weird to have the tablet be bigger than my screen. At work I have an a5 now. Which is a bit small.
So..I think an a4 would be perfect. And I'd gladly trade my a3+ for it.
As far as brands go..I don't even know about any other than Wacom. So I guess thats your best bet.

okie..

This question pops up frequently. While im holding out til Christmas for mine most here agree that a 6X9 is a happy medium. If you use your arm in drawing more than your wrist i was told get the bigger 1, 9X12 i think it was.

Loki stated once an 8x6 is easily big enough, his work should speak for itself. I have one, too, and up to now I do agree.

I'll second that reccomendation for the 68" Intuos. It's a nice size and not too much $$.

The Intuos2 is out now, too. You may want to check those out as well. They seem to be priced similarly to when the Intuos came out, so maybe they'll drive the prices of the original series down? Also, those new pens with the grip seem interesting. I wonder if they work on an old Intuos?

So far as I'm aware, Intuos 2 peripherals are not compatable with it's predecessor.

I'm running an artZII 12x12 tablet. Ya, I know BIG! It's great for the type of broad light strokes I like to make but it can definately be in the way! I've learnt to prop it in front of me on the edge of my desk like an easl<SP?>. I'm currently setting asside the case for the 6x8 Intuos2 tablet. The size is good for just about anything and I need the room on my desk back!

I've got a tiny 4 by 5 Wacom because it was the only one I could afford for personal use. It was difficult to use at first but after a while, I found it an ideal size. It's small to carry around in the backpack to and from work and you can sit it on your lap and just lie back while you paint. However when my workmates see me do this, all they see is me looking very relaxed, staring at the screen and making quick motions with one hand under my desk!

A5... I use an A5, half the forum uses an A5. Heck, I even noticed the guy who did matte-paintings for the Final Fantasy movie used an A5

Weapon of choice ladies and gents

Are you referring to Worthless_meat_sack? He posted a Wolfenstien image earlier this week.

I have a Graphire, the first series, and i have to say i like it a lot. You can move it around any way you like. You can even hold it like if you were painting. I haven't used any other tablet so i can't realy be objective.

Any way, if you are just starting out, like me, it's just fine. If you want more resolution per inch you can always zoom in. I do that a lot.
