So..........I ended up getting a new wacom pad recently. I have a friend that is a teacher of Japanese painting, brushwork and kanji. I was wondering if anyone knows of any photoshop brushes that can simulate a japanese ink brush VERY WELL. Or would painter be a better way to go?

I doubt Photoshop can imitate the effects well. I would rather try Painter than Photoshop for that effect. |

you can simulate a lot of different paint and whatnot looking stuff with photoshop as long as you're willing to get down and dirty and spend an extra hour or two texturing it up. |

Hi,
If it isn't already there in the hundreds of default brushes and extra brushes that come on the Painter CD, you can create nearly any brush imaginable by varying settings.
Painter's known for it's fantastic brush technology.. "Natural Media" brushes.
Once you've used it for a day or two, you'll wonder how you ever did without it for painting.
Good luck, whatever you decide.
